Cast Iron Honey Garlic Salmon

Cooking deliciously tender salmon in you Ooni is easy, all your need is a trusty cast iron pan, some fresh fillets, and a couple of ‘probably-already-in-your-store-cupboard’ ingredients for the glaze. Quick and packed with flavour, this recipe is an instant hit!

Ooni Cast Iron Pan

Serves 2-4 people

For the Salmon
2-4 salmon fillets
1tbsp olive oil
1tbsp thinly sliced spring onions
1tbsp mixed sesame seeds
Pinch chopped parsley

For the Glaze
2tbsp soy sauce
1tsp cornstarch
1tbsp honey
1tsp hot sauce
1tsp minced garlic
1tsp minced ginger

In a small saucepan, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, hot sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, and finally your cornstarch. Whisk to combine, then continue whisking over a medium heat for 2-3 minutes until the sauce turns into a syrup.

Fire up your Ooni pizza oven. Aim for 350°C (662°F) on the stone baking board inside. You can check the temperature inside your Ooni quickly and easily using the Ooni Infrared Thermometer.

Preheat your Ooni Cast Iron Pan in your Ooni pizza oven with a splash of oil for 3 minutes.

Brush your salmon fillets with olive oil and place them in your hot sizzler pan. Return the pan to the oven and cook the fillets for 4-5 minutes until opaque, making sure to flip the pan round to ensure an even cook.

Remove the pan from the oven and brush the fillets with your glaze. Finish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds, fresh parsley and sliced spring onions. Serve right away with a portion of your favourite veg and a glass of crisp white wine.
