You Can Make More than Pizza in Your Ooni Oven

The secret is out! Well, it’s not technically a secret, but there should be people in the streets shouting, “You can make stuff that’s NOT pizza in your Ooni pizza oven!” That’s a fact, and to prove how versatile Ooni ovens are, we’re going to take you through three courses and not one of them will be pizza. Let’s go!

The Starter: Spicy Potato Wedges

The potato. Is there anything it can’t do? Breakfast, lunch or dinner–there’s not a meal that can’t be improved by adding the humble starchy legend we all know and love. In this recipe for Spicy Potato Wedges with Firecracker Mayo, award-winning British chef and author Gill Meller starts by heating an Ooni oven up to a blazing hot 450 °C to char up some red chillies in an Ooni Cast Iron Skillet Pan. The chillies provide the “fire” part of the firecracker mayo dipping sauce. After that, it’s down to 230 °C to roast the spuds to crispy-yet-fluffy deliciousness in the Ooni Dual-Sided Grizzler Plate. This is just the starter, but it could definitely be the whole meal.

The Main: Easy-Seared Steak with Garlic Butter

Whether you’re cooking to impress your date or just want dinner on the table in less than 15 minutes, the high heat of an Ooni oven is the secret to restaurant-quality steak at home. We turn to our old friend, the Dual-Sided Grizzler Plate, preheated in a ripping hot Ooni to get a fantastic sear and extra-tender interior for steaks. This is where a multi-fuel oven like the Karu line can shine. If you want it quick and easy, simply pop on an optional gas burner. BUT, if you want to add some smoky char, it’s wood or charcoal all the way.
